Foreword

This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You. We use Your Personal data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Introduction

ciaoMath! provides mathematics guidebooks, educational materials, and related educational and mentoring information. We believe families and educators should be able to understand how information is handled when they use our website. This Privacy Policy explains the information collected through www.ciaomath.com (the “Website”), how we use and disclose it, and the choices available to visitors and customers.

We aim to collect only the information needed to operate the Website, serve customers, protect our systems, respond to inquiries, and evaluate basic website performance. We do not offer student accounts or accounts for persons under 18 years of age, or use ciaoMath! Website data for behavioral advertising, remarketing, demographic or interest profiling, or cross-device advertising identification. We do not intentionally install advertising pixels.

This Policy applies to the Website and ciaoMath! managed systems. Separately operated third-party services may have their own privacy notices governing their independent processing. Our related Cookie Policy explains cookie categories, storage technologies, and visitor controls in greater detail. This Privacy Policy explains information practices; visiting the Website alone does not constitute consent where applicable law requires a separate, affirmative choice.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

The information collected depends on the Website features used and the services that are active. Not every category applies to every visitor.

Personal Data

Information adults provide. When an adult submits a contact inquiry, requests support, registers for an available account, or purchases a guidebook, we may receive a name, email address, telephone number when provided, message content, account-related details, billing information, delivery or download information, order number, purchase details, and correspondence or other information necessary to create an account, process orders and maintain legal compliance.

Payments and order information. An authorized payment processor may collect payment-card or other payment credentials through its checkout services. ciaoMath! may receive order confirmations, amounts, transaction status, billing contact details, or limited payment references necessary to manage an order. ciaoMath! uses a third-party payment processor and does not store complete payment-card numbers or security codes.

Information we do not seek through normal website functions. We do not ask public-page visitors or students for Social Security numbers, biometric or health information, educational records, or student homework uploads. We do not operate child messaging, public student posting, or student assessment accounts.

Usage Data

Technical and security information. When a page or downloadable file is requested, hosting, security, and other relevant services may process an IP address, date and time of a request, pages or files accessed, browser type or version, general device or operating-system characteristics, referring page, session duration or activity data when enabled, diagnostic events, and information needed to maintain or secure the Website. IP-based information can sometimes indicate an approximate geographic area. The specific data available to ciaoMath! depends on the services and settings actually in use.

Cookie choices and optional analytics. Our third-party providers may record a visitor's privacy preferences. When analytics is permitted to operate, they may also process website activity, pages viewed, session information, referral sources, general browser or device information, approximate location, and pseudonymous online identifiers. More information appears below under “Tracking Technologies and Cookies” and in the Cookie Policy.

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

Essential website operation. Website infrastructure and third-party service providers may use necessary cookies, technical storage, and server processing to deliver pages, maintain security, support adult account sessions where applicable, operate checkout, and remember privacy preferences. Session cookies generally expire when the browser session ends; persistent cookies remain until their expiration or removal. Actual cookie categories, providers, and retention periods are described through our Cookie Policy and cookie-preference interface. Necessary cookies are not automatically exempt from all privacy obligations.

Cookie preferences. A cookie consent banner is installed and enabled through our hosting provider. It is intended to give visitors choices about optional cookies and to permit preferences to be changed later. Optional analytics should not load before legally appropriate permission and should stop after withdrawal or rejection.

Limited Analytics. ciaoMath! has connected a third-party analytics Measurement ID through the hosting provider for basic operational website statistics. This Measurement service uses first-party browser cookies or other measurement mechanisms, but relevant information is transmitted to and processed by the third-party provider; it is not exclusively processed by ciaoMath!. Our intended settings exclude advertising personalization, remarketing, demographic and interest reporting, user-provided-data matching, and cross-device advertising identification. Granular location and device-data collection is intended to be disabled.

No advertising pixels. We do not intentionally install third-party advertising or retargeting pixels. Future third-party embedded media may involve independent provider processing as described under “Embedded Videos and Third-Party Content” below.

Visitors may revisit the site's Cookie Settings control or use browser privacy settings to restrict or clear cookies. Rejecting optional analytics should not prevent reading public facing pages, although disabling necessary cookies may affect certain account or purchasing features. Withdrawing consent prevents future optional collection after the change takes effect; it does not automatically erase previously processed information. For cookie categories, actual identifiers, and duration information, consult our Cookie Policy.

Use of Your Personal Data

Accounts, Purchases, and Educational Access

Accounts, registration, purchasing, and direct customer transactions are restricted to individuals aged 18 or older. ciaoMath! does not create accounts for children or teenagers, student profiles, or student learning-progress records. Parents, guardians, educators, and other adults may obtain materials for students.

Some publicly available guidebook descriptions or educational materials may be viewed by school-age students without an account. The adult-only customer rule does not mean we assume every visitor to those public pages is an adult, and it does not eliminate children's privacy obligations arising from automatically collected technical information.

If we use an age-eligibility check for customer activities, it will be limited to what is reasonably necessary for that purpose. We ask adults not to provide a child's name, contact details, school records, photographs, or other identifiable student information in routine inquiries.

How We Use Information

We use information where relevant to maintain the Website; administer accounts and perform purchase agreements; fulfill digital orders and provide downloads; deliver service, account, and security communications; provide customer support; respond to inquiries and privacy requests; honor cookie preferences; maintain reliability and security; detect fraud or misuse; satisfy applicable legal, tax, and accounting obligations; resolve disputes; and understand limited website traffic and technical performance. These purposes do not include unrelated tracking or advertising uses.

If we offer optional promotional communications to adults, they will be identified as such and include a method to unsubscribe. Transaction receipts, account notices, and essential security messages are not promotional subscriptions. We do not represent that email open-tracking pixels, SMS campaigns, or mobile push notifications are used unless those functions are verified as active.

We do not intentionally use Website data to create behavioral-advertising audiences, match visitor-provided details to Google advertising identities, profile children, or infer visitors' interests for advertising purposes.

Sharing with Third-Party Service Providers

We do not intend to sell personal information or permit third parties to use information collected through ciaoMath! for their own targeted advertising. We use selected third-party service providers to support website operations, consent management, operational analytics where permitted, payment processing, communications, and technical security. Information may also be disclosed in the circumstances outlined below, subject to applicable legal obligations and actual provider arrangements.

  • Website and consent services: Third-party services functionality that supports website operation, technical security, and cookie-preference management.

  • Website analytics: Third-party analytics is permitted and operates under the configured controls.

  • Payment transactions: The verified payment processor and providers needed to process a payment, maintain an order, or deliver a purchased file.

  • Communications and support: Providers delivering business email or contact-form messages, where applicable.

Third-party service providers may process information under contracts or other governing terms appropriate to their roles, while independently operated services may apply their own privacy policies to independent collection or processing. We do not provide student records or student learning profiles to advertisers, because our stated Website model does not create those records.

Retention of Your Personal Data

We retain personal information only for the periods reasonably necessary for the specific purposes for which it was collected, subject to applicable legal obligations and legitimate security or dispute-resolution needs. Retention depends on the information category: adult account records, completed transactions, customer correspondence, technical usage logs, and cookie-consent records may follow different schedules. In particular, some records may need to be retained after an account closes to meet tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or legal requirements.

Inquiries and support: Retain while needed to respond and address related business or legal follow-up.

  • Account and purchase records: Retain as needed for account administration, order delivery, refunds, tax/accounting duties, security, and disputes.

  • Website hosting and security logs: Retain as needed for operations and incident response, subject to provider settings and actual deletion processes.

  • Analytics: Retain as needed for legitimate processing and analysis

  • Cookie-consent selections: Retain as configured by the consent-management provider to honor choices and document preferences.

  • Information concerning a child, if collected: Retain only for a specifically justified lawful purpose and delete when no longer reasonably necessary.

We delete, anonymize, or securely restrict information when it is no longer reasonably necessary, taking into account provider processes, backup schedules, and legal requirements. Technical usage data may have a shorter retention period than account or financial records, but that is dependent on the verified settings.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

ciaoMath! operates from the United States. Third-party service providers may store or process information in the United States or other countries where privacy laws differ. Where cross-border transfer requirements apply to our activities, we will use the legally required measures and safeguards. Merely visiting the Website is not treated as a blanket agreement to international transfers. The laws applicable to a particular interaction depend on the nature of the services offered, relevant jurisdictions, and other legal factors.

Delete Your Personal Data

Customers may contact ciaoMath! to request access to personal information concerning them, ask for correction of inaccuracies, request deletion where permitted, or inquire about rights applicable in their jurisdiction. Where supported by an active customer-account feature, adult account information may be updated through account settings; otherwise visitors can contact us directly. Requests to close accounts or delete personal information may be subject to lawful retention requirements for completed transactions, security, tax, or legal purposes. Parents and guardians may inquire about children’s information as described under “Children’s Privacy” below. We may verify identity or parental authority where necessary before disclosing or changing information.

You may manage optional tracking through the Website's cookie-preference control. If adult marketing emails are offered, their unsubscribe mechanism can be used to stop promotional mail. Account holders may have additional account-settings controls, depending on the actual Wix features enabled.

Rights, exceptions, and response deadlines vary by jurisdiction and legal applicability. Where relevant privacy laws provide access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, withdrawal, or opt-out rights, we will respond as required. We will not discriminate unlawfully against individuals for exercising applicable rights. Requests can be submitted using the contact information under “Contact Us.”

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business Transactions

If ciaoMath! considers or undertakes a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, reorganization, sale or transfer of business assets, or a similar business transaction, relevant personal information may be disclosed to prospective or actual purchasers, successor organizations, and professional advisers where reasonably necessary to evaluate, negotiate, or complete the transaction. We will seek appropriate confidentiality, security, and legal safeguards for such disclosures. If personal information is transferred as part of a completed transaction, its subsequent handling remains subject to applicable law and relevant privacy commitments. Where the law requires notice, consent, or additional protections before information is used for materially different purposes, those requirements will apply. A business transaction does not, by itself, authorize unrestricted use of customer information or any use of children’s personal information prohibited by law.

Law Enforcement

We may disclose personal information when required by applicable law or in response to legally valid process, such as a court order, subpoena, or other binding request from a competent public authority. We may review the legal basis and scope of a request and, where permitted and appropriate, seek to limit the disclosure to information reasonably necessary to comply with the request. We do not treat an informal request as automatic authorization to disclose personal information.

Other Legal Requirements

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary and legally permitted to investigate or prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents; protect the rights, property, or safety of ciaoMath!, our visitors, customers, or others; establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; enforce applicable agreements; or meet legal, regulatory, or recordkeeping obligations. Any disclosure remains subject to applicable privacy laws, including additional restrictions that may protect children’s personal information.

Security of Your Personal Data

We seek to use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information processed, which may include access restrictions, protected connections, service-provider oversight, monitoring, and incident response. No transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is entirely risk-free, and ciaoMath! cannot guarantee absolute security. We will investigate suspected incidents and provide legally required notifications.

Children's Privacy

Our educational content can be suitable for children, including students younger than 13. Children and teenagers cannot create ciaoMath! accounts, make purchases, or use registered customer functions. We do not request that children provide identifying information to access publicly available educational materials.

Our intended approach is to avoid collecting children's personal information except where processing is genuinely necessary for permitted internal operations and satisfies the applicable legal conditions. We do not intend to use children's information for personalized advertising, commercial behavioral profiling, or unrelated secondary purposes. If a proposed feature requires collection that cannot rely on a lawful exception, we will assess and implement applicable notice, verifiable parental consent, parental-access, security, and deletion requirements before introducing that feature.

For parents and guardians. If you believe ciaoMath! has collected personal information concerning a child, contact us using the “Contact Us” section below. Describe the concern without sending unnecessary information about the child. We will take reasonable steps to verify parental authority where required, investigate whether relevant information is held, provide any legally required opportunity for review or deletion, and stop unauthorized collection or processing. Information received in error will be reviewed and deleted or restricted as applicable law requires.

Links to Other Websites

Embedded Videos and Third-Party Content

ciaoMath! may offer original educational videos or other multimedia through embedded players hosted by independent third-party service providers. Embedded video functionality is not represented as active unless actually deployed. Before introducing it, ciaoMath! intends to evaluate available privacy-enhancing configurations, applicable age-related settings, and click-to-load or consent-aware methods that may limit unnecessary data collection.

When a visitor loads or interacts with embedded multimedia, the third-party host may independently receive technical identifiers, device or browser data, and information about use of the content. The provider’s own privacy policy, cookie policy, and terms may govern that independent processing. ciaoMath! takes reasonable precautions when incorporating external services but cannot guarantee the privacy or security of independently controlled processing. This statement does not limit ciaoMath!’s responsibilities under applicable law.

Our Website may also include links to separately operated third-party sites. When a visitor follows an external link, that provider’s independently controlled practices may apply. ciaoMath! does not control those independent practices, but will assess new integrations and update relevant policies when our own collection, disclosure, or legal duties materially change.

Scope of Independent Services

This Policy does not govern information collected independently when someone leaves the Website for a separately operated service or uses an independently controlled external platform. Those services may have their own privacy and security practices. This Policy also does not automatically govern information obtained under a future separate school or institutional agreement. ciaoMath! does not currently represent that it maintains student education records or school-managed student accounts. If that model changes, appropriate notices and safeguards must be reviewed before launch.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy if our services, information practices, service providers, or legal obligations materially change. We will post the updated version with a revised effective date. Where legally required, we will give additional notice, seek consent, or otherwise complete the applicable steps before a material change takes effect. We may also provide direct notice to affected adult account holders when appropriate and practicable.
